The joy of the Lord is my strength

Beatrice is a new children choir teacher in my church. She is soft spoken & gentle but when she sings she can project her voice to be heard clearly. On her first day teaching the 4-8 year-old kids, she had a hard time as the kids had only short attention and I was inexperience helper for her, all experienced helpers were on holiday. Fortunately the kids liked hands clapping. She found a way to keep the kids quiet by clapping her hands. She taught the kids to sing phrase by phrase with the actions. The song was 'The joy of the Lord Is My Strength'.

On her second day teaching, she gathered the kids and making a circle. She taught them another song ‘Hallelujah, Praise the Lord’ with much hands and body movement. I was so stunned by her energetic actions. I did not expect that she would teach so well because during the service she looked so pale. She told me that she had bad fever on Friday and still recovering hence she might not be able to teach the choir.

Wow! She really demonstrated her strength is the Joy of the Lord!

The joy of the Lord is my strength,
The joy of the Lord is my strength,
The joy of the Lord is my strength,
The joy of the Lord is my strength.

He heals the broken hearted and they cry no more,
He heals the broken hearted and they cry no more.
He heals the broken hearted and they cry no more,
The joy of the Lord is my strength.

He gives me living water and I thirst no more,
He gives me living water and I thirst no more.
He gives me living water and I thirst no more,
The joy of the Lord is my strength.

Words: Alliene G. Vale, based on Nehemiah 8:10

How are you feeling today? Are you weak, weary or worried?
Remember this "Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength." [Nehemiah 8:10b]
