Canticle of the Turning

Yesterday there was ‘Service of Lessons and Carols’ in ORPC. Every single scripture reading and carol is magnificent with choirs and mini orchestra setting. I love this old hymn I heard for the first time.

It was taken from Luke 1:46-55 (Mary's song when she visited Elizabeth her relative who was baring a son 'John the Baptist'). The lyric is very encouraging, beautiful and wonderful arrangement. You can hear it from YouTube.

My soul cries out with a joyful shout that the God of my heart is great. And my spirit sings of the wondrous things that you bring to the one who waits. From the halls of power to the fortress tower, not a stone will be left on stone. Let the king beware for your justice tears every tyrant from his throne. Though the nations rage from age to age, we remember who holds us fast. God's mercy must deliver us from the conqueror's crushing grasp. This saving word that our forbears heard is the promise that holds us bound. Till the spear and rod be crushed by God, who is turning the world around. (Refrain)
